Introducing paradigms and theories of social science as well as their historical development and various research approaches. The emphasis is on how theories can be applied to real-world communication issues.

A1502 INTEGRATED MARKETING COMMUNICATION

Introducing the integration of various marketing tools in relation to the needs of customers. And how to integrate strategy and communicate effectively.

A2094 POLITICAL ECONOMY OF COMMUNICATION

To explore the histories and environments of the local and foreign countries’ communication and media fields by applying the critical political economy approach. Particularly focus on their cultural and ideological significances.

A2267 SOCIOLOGY OF COMMUNICATION

This course provides students with some analytical and methodological tools and encourages them to have critical reflection upon their everyday life. It emphasizes on the dynamic connections between research problem, method, theoretical approach, analytical concept and subject matter.

A2377 THE STATISTIC METHOD OF THE SOCIAL SCIENCE

This course provides the basic introduction about the statistic principles and the related application. The students will be trained for the statistic based thinking ability to conduct the data analysis.

A2487 CULTURE INDUSTRY SEMINAR

The purpose of this course is to teach the process of producing a project in the culture industry. The class will focus on the “methods of knowing” and studying cultural phenomena. During this course we will review a wide range of culture industries, theoretical principles and methods that serve as the foundation for practicing the project. In particular, the class lecture, presentations and assignments will emphasize conceptual and operational features of figuring out a solution in the industry.

A2489 MEDIA AND CULTURAL CONSUMPTION

This course provides students with some analytical and methodological tools and encourages them to have critical reflection upon their everyday life. It emphasizes on the dynamic connections between research problem, method, theoretical approach, analytical concept and subject matter. We’ll look at multiple, intersecting structures of power, meaning, and culture.

A2546 SEMINAR IN COMMUNICATION CAREERS

This course aims to help students understand the role and nature of communication. Here the focus is not so much on existing communication professions but on the process of discovery itself. We encourage students to rethink about the most currently popular “myths” on “what communication is?” Students are expected to develop deeper understanding on the nature of communication as well as how to pursuit professionalism of communication career.

A3414 DIGITAL COMMUNICATION Computer technology has created a new communication community beside real society – virtual community. The communication effects more complex now among real society, virtual community, and media. This course discusses the way of understanding psychology and behavior of virtual community, and methods of managing virtual communication. The learning activity includes discussion, case study, and reports.

M1229 BRAND MANAGEMENT

This course provides the basic introduction about the brand related theory and the branding process. The students will be trained for the brand management ability.

Introduce the basic concept of the method of the social science research and critical methodology.

A1462 DISCOURSE ANALYSIS

This course will introduce students to several major streams in the analysis of discourse. We will consider discourse analysis through an interdisciplinary lens and through traditions that range from sociolinguistics and narrative analysis to critical discourse analysis.

A2488 SPECIAL ISSUES IN FILM AND CULTURE 

his course is to explore the interrelationship between film and culture. Various schools of theories, critical methods and approaches will be reviewed. Different issues on film and culture are emphasized in each semester.

A3517 ORGANIZATION AND MANAGEMENT

This course examines the mechanism of interaction between people and organization and the application of management concepts.
