視障者先天上受視覺障礙之限制,在資訊的接觸上原本已極為不足,而在現今趨影像化的傳播趨勢下,無法完整地獲取「影像資訊」,更使其在知識學習上居於弱勢的地位。我國視障教育工作的推動長期以來受限於研究人力、資源,相關技術的研發和配合等因素,一直面臨諸多不易突破的瓶頸,其中「視覺圖像輔具不足」的問題,更是當前視障教育工作者與家長所共同關注的問題。在「視覺圖像輔具」中加入「語文描述」1的方式,使得「視覺圖像輔具」的製作,不僅能具有文字語言「製作簡易、方便易懂」的「便利性」,也可讓「視覺圖像輔具」的使用,藉由「語文描述」的協助,引導視障者更有效地利用「其他形式」的輔具,因為在「視覺圖像」的學習歷程上,「語文」無疑地提供了人類共同經驗中最豐富的溝通基礎。本研究透過資料蒐集、實驗調查以及深度訪談之方式,從理論的相關概念出發,並以自製之「視覺圖像輔具」,針對台北市立啟明學校國小至高中部單一障礙的全盲生進行實驗調查,來探討其對圖像素材認知學習之歷程與效果。主要探討之問題包含主要探討之問題包含(1)「表現形式、物體大小、生活經驗」此三項因素,是否會影響以及如何影響視障生在「心像建構」與「意義組織」上的表現?(2)視覺圖形輔具能否以及如何協助視障者對於文字敘述內容的「閱讀」與「記憶」效果?(3)建立「視覺圖像輔具」設計時,使用「語文描述」的系統性原則。
