SummaryMindfulnessbased stress reduction (MBSR) is an organized mindfulness meditation training that provides an 8 week workshop which aims to instruct practitioners to experience the presentmoment with non-judgement. Some studies have investigated the association between mindfulness meditation and brain structures. The research reported that the altered brain structures were related to the state of mindfulness meditation. However, most studies employed crosssectional study design to explore the effect of mindfulness meditation on experts compared with nonmeditators. The effect of the 8week training on white matter tract integrity has not been validated systematically. Therefore, this study probed the effects of the shortterm MBSR training on white matter structures. Specifically, an automatic tractbased analysis was used to monitor subtle changes in white matter tracts over the whole brain.
